We are currently looking for a Data Scientist to join our team in Cambridge. This is a permanent, full-time position and is an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact on real-world drug discovery projects.
We operate with a research group of approximately 60 scientists, specialising in fragment- and structure-based drug discovery, and supporting both in-house programmes and collaborations with large pharmaceutical partners.
The role will involve actively supporting decision-making at all stages of the drug discovery process by building predictive models based on in-house and public data. There will also be a strong emphasis on deploying and integrating such models into the existing IT infrastructure and making these available to all research scientists through web-services and web-based interfaces.
The ability to summarise, contextualise, and communicate scientific information to colleagues and collaborators is essential. Furthermore, the role will necessarily require the ability to effectively liaise between research scientists and IT professionals on specific requirements and details of software implementation.
Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline, and have a proven data science and programming track-record within an academic or industrial research group. Additionally, experience in the following specific areas is highly desirable:
• Python (sklearn, pandas, matplotlib, keras)
• Machine learning methods (especially neural networks)
• Jupyter notebooks for communicating experimental results
• Chemistry toolkits (eg RDKit)
• KNIME for data analytics
All applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
